الحُبُّ لَيْسَ رِوَايَةً شَرْقِيَّةً.. بِخِتَامِهَا يَتَزَوَّجُ الأَبْطَال

“Love is not an Eastern novel where the heroes marry at the end.”

كُلُّ الَّذِي أَعْرِفُهُ عَنِ الحُبِّ.. أَنَّهُ ضِدُّ المَنْطِق

“All I know about love is that it is the opposite of logic.”

قُلْ لِي وَلَوْ كَذِبًا كَلَامًا نَاعِمًا.. قَدْ كَادَ يَقْتُلُنِي بِكَ التَّمْثِيل

“Tell me, even if it's a lie, some soft words; for acting has almost killed me.”

لَا تَسْأَلِي: كَيْفَ كَانَ مَاضِيَّ.. فَالحُبُّ لَيْسَ لَهُ مَاضٍ

“Do not ask how my past was; love has no past.”

عَلَّمَنِي حُبُّكِ أَنْ أَحْزَن.. وَأَنَا مُحْتَاجٌ مُنْذُ عُصُورٍ لِامْرَأَةٍ تَجْعَلُنِي أَحْزَن

“Your love taught me how to be sad, and for ages I have needed a woman to make me sad.”

إِنَّ الشِّعْرَ رَغِيفٌ يُخْبَزُ لِلْفُقَرَاء

“Poetry is a loaf of bread baked for the poor.”

الحُبُّ فِي الأَرْضِ بَعْضٌ مِنْ تَخَيُّلِنَا.. لَوْ لَمْ نَجِدْهُ عَلَيْهَا لَاخْتَرَعْنَاه

“Love on earth is partly our imagination; if we didn't find it, we would have invented it.”

كُونِي امْرَأَةً خَطِرَة.. كُونِي القُوَّةَ، كُونِي النَّمِرَة

“Be a dangerous woman; be the strength, be the tigress.”

مِنَ السَّهْلِ جِدًّا أَنْ نَكْتُبَ عَنِ الحُبِّ، وَلَكِنَّ الأَصْعَبَ هُوَ أَنْ نُحِبّ

“It is very easy to write about love, but the hardest thing is to love.”

ثَوْرَةُ المَرْأَةِ ضِدَّ الرَّجُلِ هِيَ ثَوْرَةٌ لِلْجَمَال

“A woman's revolution against a man is a revolution for beauty.”

إِنِّي أُحِبُّكِ حَتَّى يَجِفَّ البَحْرُ، وَتَنْطَفِئَ النُّجُوم

“I will love you until the sea runs dry and the stars go out.”

الحُرِّيَّةُ هِيَ أَنْ لَا تَنْتَظِرَ شَيْئًا

“Freedom is to expect nothing.”

قَارِئَةُ الفِنْجَانِ قَالَتْ: يَا وَلَدِي لَا تَحْزَنْ.. فَالغُرْبَةُ لِلْشُّعَرَاءِ وَطَن

“The cup reader said: My son, do not be sad; for exile is a homeland for poets.”

بِدُونِ المَرْأَةِ، يَبْقَى الكَوْنُ صَحْرَاءَ قَاحِلَة

“Without woman, the universe remains a barren desert.”

الشِّعْرُ لَيْسَ وَظِيفَةً، إِنَّهُ انْفِجَار

“Poetry is not a job; it is an explosion.”

حُبُّكِ خَرِيطَتِي.. لَمْ أَعُدْ أَحْتَاجُ إِلَى خَرَائِطِ العَالَم

“Your love is my map; I no longer need the maps of the world.”

كُلَّمَا نَظَرْتُ إِلَيْكِ، وُلِدْتُ مِنْ جَدِيد

“Every time I look at you, I am born anew.”

الكَلِمَةُ رَصَاصَةٌ، إِذَا انْطَلَقَتْ لَا تَعُود

“The word is a bullet; once fired, it does not return.”

نَحْنُ لَا نَكْبُرُ بِالسِّنِين، بَل بِالمَوَاقِف

“We do not grow old by years, but by experiences.”

لَمْ يَبْقَ عِنْدِي مَا أَقُولُهُ.. تَعِبَ الكَلَامُ مِنَ الكَلَام

“I have nothing left to say; words are tired of words.”

فِي الحُبِّ.. لَا تُوجَدُ طُرُقٌ مَرْصُوفَةٌ لِلسَّلَامَة

“In love, there are no paved roads to safety.”

أَنَا رَجُلٌ يَعِيشُ فِي مَدِينَةِ الكَلِمَات

“I am a man who lives in the city of words.”

عَيْنَاكِ غَابَتَا نَخِيلٍ سَاعَةَ السَّحَر

“Your eyes are two palm groves at the hour of dawn.”

دِمَشْقُ.. يَا شَامُ يَا بَوَابَةَ التَّارِيخ

“Damascus, O Sham, O gateway of history.”

إِنَّ الحُبَّ هُوَ أَنْ تَتَحَوَّلِي إِلَى قَصِيدَة

“Love is for you to transform into a poem.”

لَا يُمْكِنُكَ أَنْ تَكُونَ حُرًّا.. وَأَنْتَ تَخَافُ مِنَ الحُبّ

“You cannot be free while you fear love.”

المَرْأَةُ هِيَ الَّذِي تُعْطِي لِلْحَيَاةِ طَعْمَهَا

“Woman is what gives life its flavor.”

كُلُّ قَصِيدَةٍ أَكْتُبُهَا هِيَ مَعْرَكَة

“Every poem I write is a battle.”

الحُبُّ قَرَارٌ.. وَلَيْسَ صُدْفَة

“Love is a decision, not a coincidence.”

إِنَّ الحُبَّ فِي مِصْرَ كَالمَوتِ، قَضَاءٌ وَقَدَر

“Love in Egypt is like death; it is a matter of fate and destiny.”

أُحِبُّكِ فَوْقَ مَا تَحْتَمِلُ الْكَلِمَاتُ

“My love for you exceeds the weight that words were made to carry.”
