مثَلٌ عربيٌّ مشهور يقوم على جناس «الصديق» و«الضيق»، ومعناه أنّ الصداقة الحقّة تظهر في الشدّة لا في الرخاء. وهو من الأمثال السائرة بلا قائلٍ معروف، وله نظائر في ثقافاتٍ كثيرة.

A classic Arabic proverb whose two key words — ṣadīq (friend) and ḍīq (hardship) — rhyme, meaning that true friendship proves itself in adversity, not in ease. It is a saying of the common proverbial tradition, with close parallels in many cultures (“a friend in need is a friend indeed”).
