مثَلٌ عربيٌّ قديم أورده الميداني في «مجمع الأمثال»، ومعناه أنّ ما يبدو ضرراً قد يحمل في طيّاته نفعاً خفيّاً. ويقارب معناه قوله تعالى: «وعسى أن تكرهوا شيئاً وهو خيرٌ لكم»، ويُضرب تعزيةً حين تنقلب المِحنة إلى مِنحة.

A classical Arabic proverb recorded in al-Maydānī’s 12th-century compendium Majmaʿ al-Amthāl, meaning that something seemingly harmful can carry a hidden benefit. Its sense echoes the Qurʾanic principle, “Perhaps you dislike a thing and it is good for you” (Q 2:216). It is offered in consolation when an apparent misfortune turns out for the best.
